I am in the process of making my second full-length album which will be released in the fall, but for now, I am releasing this EP collection which will not be part of the new album. Thematically, these songs are tied together by humanity's perhaps most unsympathetic trait: greed.

"Feed the greed" (Tim Scott McConnell/Arne Skage) was written a year ago together with Tim "Ledfoot" Scott. The song has a "Stones"-like vibe and could have easily been included in the soundtrack to "Exit". On the track, David Grissom plays guitar, one of my favorites. Grissom is known from bands such as Joe Ely, John Mellencamp, and Dixie Chicks, and he has also played briefly with the Allman Brothers. In addition, Doug Belote, perhaps New Orleans' best studio drummer, plays drums (Sonny Landreth/Jerry Douglas/Tedeschi Trucks Band/Dr. John/George Porter Jr./Sonny Landreth/Anders Osborne, Cyril Neville, Ivan Neville, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Allen Toussaint). I have known Doug since 2002 and he played on the two albums I produced for Joe Rusi. My regular live bassist Øyvind Grong is also on the track, as well as my daughter Thale, who sings backup.



"Rich people" [Carsie Blanton] - When I was in New Orleans three years ago in connection with my previous album, I attended a concert with Carsie Blanton and have been a fan ever since. She released the song "Rich People" last fall and has received a great response to it. I have rearranged the song to a more "drone-blues" expression. The lyrics are straight to the point and fit well with the theme.



"Powergrab" [Simon Wells/Arne Skage] - This was written last summer with Brit Simon Wells from the band collective "Simon & the Astronauts." We were at a songwriting workshop in Scotland discussing politics when the phrase "it's a powergrab, you know" came up, which we spun further on. Later that summer, I got to know Roberto Luti while visiting my brother-in-law in Italy. Luti is one of the recurring musicians in the "Playing for Change" YouTube phenomenon, which blends human brotherhood through music with charity projects in poor countries. Luti is considered one of Italy's best slide guitarists. On drums, I have Terence Higgins, perhaps New Orleans' funkiest drummer, who also played on my debut album (as well as a member of Ani de Franco and Tab Benoit's bands). Moss' longest banjo player, Terje Kinn, does background vocals.
